Bought new, Owned for 2 Years
Fuel Economy: 12.0 km/litre (8.3 L/100 km), RON95, Mileage: 2,500 km/month
Very good handling especially high speed cornering
Fun driving machine, good looking car
    consider good fuel consumption
Car paint is too thin, chip off easily
lower arm noise still cant resolve
wind noise issue also cant resolve yet
service center know the problem but never conduct car recall to solve the problem
To Improve
Service center is not enough, Mazda car is getting popular but there is only 2 service center in JB.
Yes, I would recommend this car

2.5 SkyActiv-G (2014)
Bought new, Owned for 1 Year
Fuel Economy: 12.0 km/litre (8.3 L/100 km), RON97, Mileage: 1,500 km/month
    - One of the most powerful N/A D-Segment in the market - 250Nm of torque at a low 3250rpm -
    - Light kerb weight (1440kg) results in superb handling and acceleration (0-100 7.8s)
    - Very fun & engaging to drive - definitely more of a driver's car, which also doubles up as a family sedan
    - Can be very economical when driven moderately (~12km/l) in 100% city driving
    - One of the best looking cars today - still turning heads everywhere I go
    - Well equipped (sunroof, Smart City Braking System, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Monitoring, Start/Stop System, 6 airbags, Premium BOSE 12 speakers sound system, Keyless entry, Adaptive bi-Xenon headlamps)
    - Despite other reviews complaining about the ride and NVH, i think it is as good if not better than an Accord, Teana, E200. Engine/exhaust note gives a nice sense of sportiness (others may mistakenly note this as poor sound insulation). No issues even at high speeds. Comparing against the FD civic, this is miles ahead in terms of NVH and comfort.
    - 3 years free service, inclusive labour and parts
    - Poor, outdated head-unit, one of the smallest screen size for this segment of cars. Laggy interface, USB doesnt resume from where it was left of, instead starts from beginning everytime the car is started. A way around this is to use bluetooth streaming which works perfectly. Mazda is working on a software update for this.
    - Noise from front suspension bush (over speed bumps) when wet (also affects all CX-5). This has been fixed (replaced) via recall.
    - No COMMAND button in center console - even Mazda 3 has it.
To Improve
- Excellent service from Miri outlet, very customer focused, although facilities desperately needs to be improved.
- Can choose from wide range of engine oil (Shell Helix, Castrol Magnatec, Idemitsu)
-Tribos coating leaves a lot to be desired, not as good as claimed
- Improve the audio headunit interface, bigger screen
- A bit pricey compared to the other D-segments - but what you pay is what you get - CBU quality, more gadgets
Yes, I would recommend this car

2.0 SkyActiv-G (2014)
Bought new, Owned for 1 Year
Fuel Economy: 16.0 km/litre (6.3 L/100 km), RON95, Mileage: 3,500 km/month
    - Outstanding exterior design
    - Well Handling especially in cornering
    - Good fuel consumption, can beat my 2009 1.3EZi Myvi
    - Roof is low for a person with 180cm height
    - The audio system always start with the first song when the car restart. Shuffler mode has fixed calculation, same songs will be played for same media.
To Improve
I had visited 4 times to the service center for defects repair within a month (bought 30 days ago)

1st visit - To rectify the driver seat door's creaking noise, result: Not able to resolve
2nd visit - To rectify the same problem, result: Resolved
3rd visit - To replace the noisy suspension bush for both front wheels, result: Resolved
4th visit - To rectify the creaking noise inside the dashboard, result: Not able to resolve
5th visit - (coming soon)

It is very annoying for paying RM159k to get a problematic car.
No, I would not recommend this car

2.5 SkyActiv-G (2014)
Bought new, Owned for 1 Year
Fuel Economy: 12.8 km/litre (7.8 L/100 km), RON95, Mileage: 5,000 km/month
    - Superb handling for a D-segment car, you can feel it at the corner that this car can do so so much more than other D segment car, even better than many C or B segment.
    - Packed with loads of stuff, Safety feature such as ESP ABS EBD, blind spot monitoring, lane departure and and smart city braking system. Your precious life is well guarded
    - Comfortable leather seats, much better leg room compared to previous generation, just slightly smaller than accord and camry leg.
    - Smooth and quite powerful engine despite it's not turbocharged, gearbox smooth like butter.
    - Nicely design interior, very contemporary design while not over exaggerated
    - Fuel economy mix highway and city 40:60 is 8.5l/100km, very fuel saving
    - MOST IMPORTANT, everytime i look at this car i feel like it's something would be featured in a transformer movie, very well design pretty looking sexy front and back.
    - Stiff suspension, not everyone cup of tea including me but its a tradeoff for better handling.
    - NVH bad for a D segment car, windnoise, engine noise all the noise, but not as serious as a cheap local car.
    - front suspension got squeky noise (yet to be rectified completely by Mazda)
    - No front view camera for parking although i wish it has, normal for this range of car.
    - Smart city braking system seldom brake for me when i am about to collide with car infront but always come in effect when i speed too fast passing a smart tag lane, shocked by it a few times already.
    - Need a better car infotainment system, very boring to operate current unit.
To Improve
- Radar cruise control should be introduced since available widely oversea.
- No need sunroof for Malaysia
- Fix the suspension noise issue
- Improve NVH, this is a RM190k car, didn't expect it turn out to be like sub 100k NVM.
- Longer warranty, 5 years
Yes, I would recommend this car

2.5 SkyActiv-G (2014)
Bought new, Owned for 2 Years
Fuel Economy: 11.6 km/litre (8.6 L/100 km), RON95, Mileage: 1,667 km/month
    - Very good handling and response. Comfortable for long distance drives.
    - Acceleration is good enough for the average driver in most circumstances.
    - Comes with some nice tech features, such as Smart City Braking System, Lane Departure Warning, Side Mirror Warning, Start/Stop System
    - Good fuel economy. Beats my wife's 2013 Fiesta in city driving. 7L/100km highway; 9.3L/100km city.
    - Head and legroom are not bad. Interior leather and finishing feels quite good.
    - Plenty of airbags.
    - Bose speakers sound great (at least for me).
    - Keyless entry, with option for walk-away locking.
    - Best-looking car in its segment. :)
    - Suspension is relatively stiff compared to other cars in segment. You will feel those bumps in the road.
    - Tribos coating practically non-existent. Better off with aftermarket coating.
    - Aftermarket spare parts still limited. Official parts are expensive (RM1500 for start/stop battery; RM2000 for full spare tyre).
    - Oh yes, doesn't come with spare tyre. People have had mixed results with the tyre repair kit.
    - Terrible terrible head unit. Laggy UI. Laggy Bluetooth audio. USB audio doesn't resume tracks where left off. In summary, it's dated and not up to par with current-generation entertainment units.
    - Wind noise is quite apparent at fast speeds, although apparently Mazda Malaysia is testing some replacement parts.
    - Tyre/road noise is quite loud at fast speeds too.
    - Front suspension creaks over bumps when it's wet. Mazda has a solution for this with new parts coming in August 2014.
    - Faint rattle from rear seats, apparently due to poor folding seat bracket design (too many loose parts).
To Improve
- Include items and features provided in other markets, such as centre console commander control and spare tyre. Or at least allow owners to retrofit them at a fair price.
- More sound insulation would be great for this car.
- There's a lot of concern about the inconsistency of the service packages provided between Malaysia and neighbouring countries and they are not fully addressed. Just saying they are "market-specific adaptations" is not enough. More detailed or technical explanations are needed.

2.5 SkyActiv-G (2014)
Bought new, Owned for 1 Year
Fuel Economy: 16.1 km/litre (6.2 L/100 km), RON97, Mileage: 3,000 km/month
    - Built in quality is good.
    - Lot of safety feature and even more if compare to BMW 320i.
    - Performance equal to BMW 320i just lack of torque.
    - Fuel saving and good performance for overtaking.
    - The car design for the driver.
    - Nice design for young people compare to Camry or Accord.
    - Can run 240kmph. :-)
    - Not comfortable when driven in uneven road or bumpy road.
    - Lack of space for passenger compare to Camry or Honda.
    - Cant play DVD or video just music.
    - No spare Tyre.
    - No sunshade.
    - Difficult to find comparable engine oil to the lack of supply for Fully Synthetic 5W-30 that recommended for International (Malaysia, etc except USA&Mexico)
    - Cant play DVD or video on the player.
To Improve
- Service center at SG besi was good and friendly and even recommended other thing for skyactive engine.
- To improve player for playing DVD or video.
- To add center control like mazda3.

2.0 SkyActiv-G (2014)
Bought new, Owned for 1 Year
Fuel Economy: 14.0 km/litre (7.1 L/100 km), RON95, Mileage: 1,800 km/month
-The exterior styling is still a joy to behold. Looks best in Meteor Grey or Soul Red.
-Excellent handling and very little body roll during corners. Car feels smaller than it is.
-Damping is well sorted. Glides over most rough surfaces and broken pavement.
-Plush interior with plenty of soft touch materials and well equipped for its class.
-Spacious interior and praises all round from rear passengers.
    -Generous safety features.
    -Gear shifts are barely discernible.
    -Excellent fuel economy. (7.1L/100km)
-In car voice recognition is accurate most of the time.
-Front bushing squeaks when negotiating speed bumps/ramps
-Shockingly poor NVH for a D-segment. Wind noise creeps in at 100km/h. Combined with excessive road noise, not a good long distance cruiser.
-Firm ride may not be everyone's cup of tea.
-Weak acceleration from standstill. Feels much better on the move.
-Engine starts to lose refinement at higher revs.
-Build quality still can't match the likes of VW.
-Shallow boot made worse by installation of spare tyre bracket.
-Head unit is rather basic and bluetooth connectivity is slow and cumbersome.
-No keyless entry even though Push Start/Stop button is available. The ingress/egress experience is not seamless.
    -i-Stop judders when engine restarts
To Improve
-Build quality
-NVH and refinement.
-Consider force induction and engine downsizing.
-Head unit.
-Pricing should be more competitive.

2.0 SkyActiv-G (2014)

Fuel Economy: 14.3 km/litre (7.0 L/100 km), RON95, Mileage: 1,500 km/month
The Mazda's new Kodo design definitely wins the segments beauty pageant hands down. The looks however are not just skin deep the masculine flowing lines along with its undercar aerodynamic plates gives this car an amazingly low drag coefficient value of 0.26.

All this together with use of lightweight materials equates to lower fuel consumption. Combined real world city/highway driving gives me an average of 7L/100km(14.3Km/l) Not bad considering it seats 5adults comfortably with 489l of boot space.

Performance wise for this 2.0 is actually decent just that you've got to really get the revs up before you feel the pull (200nm@4000rpm).

Safety is good with a segment leading 6airbags ABS/EBD with Traction Stabilty control. Driving dynamics wise it corners flat with sharp turn in response and It's weighted at speed steering wheel still manages to provide good road feedback.

The passenger ride is comfortable and quiet with its silky smooth feel you hardly hear any engine noise or vibrations at low rpm.A friend of mine actually dubs this the Japanese Jaguar.(though I'm guessing he has never driven the latest Jaguars).

The interior looks are subjective for everyone for me it has a well thought off layout. Plush soft touch materials are everywhere with this car which gives it a luxurious feel.
It has a stereo system that will make you drive from the showroom to the nearest aftermarket car-audio shop for a swap. With the omission of the 'i drive' like controller knob found on overseas models I constantly find myself scrambling around the touchscreen to read out SMS's, making calls, pairing of Bluetooth and etc which can be quite distracting. No GPS. No paddle shift. Generally poorly spec when compared only to its big brother the 2.5
To Improve
It's Glenmarie service centre probably needs some planning ahead when making a service appointment.
It's Tribos coating was never as claimed but I understand the latest cars don't come with it anymore, probably a good thing.
