Overall Rating

The 2020 update brought very minor upgrades to the Civic, but that's because the FC was already an excellent all-rounder to begin with. Still a solid purchase if you really like its looks.

For
  • Still one of the most spacious C-segment sedans
  • Honda Sensing works smoothly and competently
  • Punchy turbocharged powertrain
  • Split-folding seats (finally!)
  • Sexy 18-inch wheels
Against
  • Infotainment display looks like a relic
Performance

The 1.5L turbocharged engine is comparable to bigger 2.0L NA engines in terms of performance, offering gobs of low-end torque. The CVT also makes light work of the everyday drive.

Ride & Handling

It feels light on its feet, quick to turn and surprisingly agile for a C-segment car. Steering feedback may feel a little muted for enthusiasts, but this won't bother the majority of buyers.

Comfort

Ride is supple without being too wallowy, though fitment of the larger wheels and lower profile tyres do produce a noticeably firmer rebound profile. Some absorbency is lost with the new Michelin Pilot Sport 4 rubbers, but the increase in grip level is well worth the trade.

Safety

With Honda Sensing now part of the kit, the Civic FC is finally complete. It has AEB, adaptive cruise control with low speed follow, as well as lane keep assist. They all work flawlessly.

Space

Don't be fooled by the Civic's sporty low-slung looks. It is one of the most spacious C-segment sedans around, offering loads of rear legroom space, plus a cavernous 519-litre boot volume!

Value

The Civic 1.5 TC-P facelift came at a price increase of around RM10k, pushing it close to RM140k. It's probably not worth the full asking price if you consider alternative options, but with dealer discounts, it might be hard to pass up, especially if you like how it looks.
